An Interactive Interdisciplinary Workshop

Proposed Venue: SamyuktaLecture Theatre

Though Immanuel Kant, Bertolt Brecht, Thomas Mann et al. are celebrated and studied for their independent achievements, a true appreciation of German Literature and its contribution to World Literature is a void in the curriculum of our universities. Needless to say, for our lecturers to developan impeccable outlook towards Literature in its entity, this would act as a deterrent. This made E-ProF think of creating a series of workshops on the said topic, in accessible locations with reputed speakers from the academia. The first of these would be on German Literature.
“Appreciating 20thCentury German Fiction: An Interactive Interdisciplinary Workshop” aims at generating meaningful discussions among students and scholars of English literature departments to promote reading and appreciation of German fiction and foster research in the area.
Resource Persons: • Dr. Jibu George, Professor at EFL University, Hyderabad
• Dr. V Ganeshan, Former Vice Chancellor of CIEFL and Former Emeritus Professor of German in Emory University in the US
• Dr. V. Rajakrishnan, Former Emeritus Professor at the University of Kerala
The three-day workshop requires the participants to do prior reading on all the authors discussed in the workshop and to submit an original review of half a page of any novel written by any of these authors.During the workshop the participants have to display charts or posters they have prepared on the authors, and on the afternoon of the third daythey would make brief presentations on what interests them in German literature. After the workshop, within a period of two months, the participants will submit articles on German novels, which will be published in book form as a resource on the subject.
